3 Preassumptions • This is a prototype! Everything is subject to change. • Rules and Sheets are available at: https://github.com/iuf/unidancing • Judging system and judge education are two independent ares, that can and must be worked on in parallel  Keep in mind: this presentation only focusses the judging system

3 Main Goal • Only judge dimensions, that are neutral across various styles of routines • Riders shall deliver a beautiful* “package” • Be careful: Judging contents can and will make assumptions and guidelines to what is beautiful and not, which can easily be wrong → research and testing is required • Main Idea: Focus athletic achievement (Tricks & Artistics) *beautiful in the context of their routine

3 UniDancing Judging System (Prototype) Structure • 3 Parts: • Main concept: Values range from 0 to 10; multiplied afterwards Tricks (40%) Artistics (40%) Choreography (20%) Legend:

3 UniDancing Judging System (Prototype) Part: Tricks Tricks: Tricks = (Quality + Difficulty + Mastery) / 3 Quality (10 Pts) - How is a trick done? - Median of all tricks Difficulty (10 Pts) - How is a trick done? - Median of all tricks Mastery (10 Pts) Distractions for: - Unintentionally regain Balance (-0.25) - Minor dismount (-0.5) - Major dismount (-0.75) 10 - (sum of distractions)

3 UniDancing Judging System (Prototype) Part: Artistics Artistics: Artistics = (Body Language + Quality) / 2 Body Language (10 Pts) - How well does your body express what you mean/ want to say? 0 – Do not understand 5 – Halfway understand 10 – Fully understand Quality (10 Pts) - How is a artistics motion done? 0 – Badly, no body tension 10 – High quality, great body tension

3 UniDancing Judging System (Prototype) First Hand Experience • Tricks part is already very solid • Artistics has some discrepancy between  what the judging system wants you to judge and  what the judge actually judges (in that situation)  both can be right! • Choreography works better than expected  Can't be boolean, must be a scale  Divisions need more research • Relationship between tricks and artistics is sloppy
