    Internet
    The Internet subsumed all
    writing, printing and added a
    many capabilities not obvious
    that it could happen

    I will posit that
    “multipolarity” is a
    positive thing

    It is about diversity of
    ideas, sharpening of
    thoughts and action
    - that there are more than one way to do
    things

Today, with 3D printers, can make pretty
    much anything, anywhere.

    Let me switch gears
    and look at Asia

  23. 24
Let's look at reality (or a perception of
reality) in Asia today. We have a few
    groupings:
    ● Central Asia
    ● South Asia
    ● South East Asia
    ● East Asia

    ● From the conclusion of the WW2, Japan
    became an economic powerhouse.
    ● Since about 1980, China started their
    economic trajectory
    ● India started later and moving along well.
    ● The Tigers: Singapore, Taiwan, S. Korea

    ● Tian Xia is a 3000 year old Chinese cultural notion
that all of the geographical world is linked with the
Chinese sovereign - equal and subservient.

    ● The geographically closer to the Chinese
emperor/sovereign, no matter how different the
people "look", they are all part of the "all under
    heaven" or tian xia.

    Understanding Tian Xia that would
provide some context and would make
sense about how the CCP thinks (2022
    and beyond).

    ● Fast forward to the 1800s, the European nation states and later
the United States were on a similar Tian Xia, except that this was
done with a different set of objectives.

    ● [oversimplifying] The influence of US/EU models were about
empowering regions to be democratic (much later), not to be
tributary states (did not always turn out that way), but to be
sovereign entities on par with the US/EU.

    ● The Chinese Tian Xia and the EU/US models of hegemony are
both happening in parallel as well as in conflict of these other.

    ● This is both a good thing for Asia and technology for it gives
diversity of ideas and finding ways around constraints pushes
    forward innovation.

    ● Yes, there WILL be conflicts (all forms: cyber, kinetic etc) and we
must plan and prepare for it
