  1. What We’ll Review • Setting up a unit • Coordinating

a Den/Patrol – Setting up a den – Adding/moving scouts to a den – Leader assignments & roles • Guiding parents to use Scoutbook • Recording achievements • Recording awards
  2. What We’ll Review • Den advancement • Ending a den’s

membership (ie: AOL to BSA) • Ending membership  • Finding help for Scoutbook
  3. Setting Up a Unit - Import • The use of

Internet Advancement will be required by all units in Occoneechee Council, starting January 1, 2018. • This is the quickest & easiest way to import your unit. • Login -> My Dashboard -> My Units -> Edit Pack -> ScoutNET Import
  4. Leader Assignments – Adding Den Admin • Den Admins can

be leaders in another den, a Pack role person, or a parent. • Den Admins are useful when… – A leader needs to administer scouts in the den – A leader helps out with other dens
  5. Getting Parents to Use Scoutbook • Create a unit subscription

(this makes it free for parents). • Connect Scouts to their parents. • Allow parents to record advancements that the leader later approves.
  6. Connecting a Parent to a Scout • Once they are

connected, it’s helpful to have a Scoutbook 101 session. – Do this at a den meeting • Durham Pack 451 has a great Scoutbook write-up for parents. • Explain to parents when leadership will enter advancements and when they should.
  7. Recording Achievements – Single Scout • Enter item completion date

    – This can be done by parents or leaders. – Leader Approved/Recorded box is only shown to leaders.
  8. Recording Adventures – Quick Entry • Quick Entry can be

scoped to a single scout, a single den, or the entire unit. • Is for entering in adventure accomplishments for many scouts at once. • Quick Entry can’t be undone quickly. Individual scout edits would need to occur.
  9. Den Advancement • At the end of the program year,

it is possible to advance the den to the next rank. • It is still possible to enter in accomplishments for previous ranks for the scouts (if you forgot).
  10. Ending Individual Membership • Never delete a scout from Scoutbook!

    – If the Scout ever returns or transfers to another unit, that scout’s history will be lost. • There is a way to disassociate a scout from your unit in a way that keeps his account but no longer has him under your subscription plan.
  11. Ending Individual Membership • Set an End Date to all

active memberships to remove a scout from your unit.
  12. Scoutbook Help • From the Scoutbook homepage, ‘Forums’, ‘Videos’, and

‘Help’ are great! • YouTube has a lot of videos. • Durham Pack 451’s awesome write-up at: http://pack451nc.org/scoutbook/scoutbook- basics/
