3. .fi Sinun tiesi rajapintojen maailmaan apisuomi.fi Current Situation & Challenges • Current Situation – Lot of information is exchanged using APIs in Finland – Government collects lot of information, but has very limited APIs – By law there are restrictions about visibility of the data – Very less information through APIs is free • Challenges – Different standards and formats – Scattered information or sometimes no information at all – Not up to date information about an API or its evolution – Lack of test environment – Lack of data about API usability
4. .fi Sinun tiesi rajapintojen maailmaan apisuomi.fi Strategy • One place for all the information – API usage statistics & data, links to sample codes etc – API users data • Sand box where developers can test the APIs • Standard format of the documentation, where developers knows where to find what and how → code and documentation close to each other • Proper classification of APIs so that it is easy to search → use existing practices • Updates are informed relevant users instead of spamming everyone • Create a standard revenue & authentication model between API provider and user
