  1. «Буковина: спільна культурна спадщина» Chernivtsi and Suceava became sister cities

    on October 31, 2003 Romanian community of Bukovyna, which in the first half of XIX century was the most numerous community of the land, started straining at its national and cultural life at the times of the revolutionary events of 1848.
  2. Joint Cultural Heritage Culture of Bukovynian people, both Ukrainians and

    Romanians, other nations living in this blessed land is very similar: elements of music, dances and costumes very much resembled old joint folk and crafts traditions.
  3. Cross border cooperation Cross border cooperation was launched under the

    TACIS technical assistance programme in 1996. It aimed to support of the development of cross border cooperation between Ukraine and the candidate countries of Central and Eastern Europe. Project on promotion of joint cultural heritage in cross-border region of Chernivtsi and Suceava presents a series of cultural events to promote traditional art in the multiethnic Bukovyna community.
  4. The goals of the project include: - preservation, extension and

    promotion of joint cultural heritage, traditions of tolerance and peaceful coexistence of neighbouring nations in multicultural environment; - renovation of old folk and crafts events, their strengthening and development; - development of cultural tourism as a new business in the cross-border region
  5. Man-made tradition is eternal like a human soul In Chernivtsi

    land fifty national craftsmen are united into two centres of the National Union of National Craftsmen – regional and Bukovynian Volodymyr Voronchak is a Merited Craftsman of Ukraine, head of the Bukovynian centre of the National Union of Craftsmen of Ukraine
  6. Masters of embroidery Merited national craftsmen of Ukraine Olena Hasyuk

    from Vyzhnytsya, Nastasiya Zhmendak from Kadubivtsi that is in Zastavna district, Myhailo Pokydanets from Chernivtsi, masters of national painting Mariya Hebryna from Ivanivtsi of Kelmentsi district and Chernivtsi citizen Volodymyr Zhorin, craftsman of artistic carving and wood incrusting Vasyl Yavdoshnyak from Chernivtsi.
  7. Dariya Stasyuk, Diana Novak Studying ancient ornaments on Bukovynian beads

    adornments – gerdans, strings of beads, gratings – Diana creates interesting modern samples that good befit to national costumes. In such a way, small creative experimental family workshop in Kitsman becomes an amulet of traditional national culture.
  8. Ivan Honchar In 1963-1985 he worked in Kobolchyn as a

    teacher of music, painting and physical training. At the same place he founded a village choir, which soon gained the rank of National. Since 1988, when he organized the circle of ceramics in Novodnistrovsk House of National Art, Ivan every day takes care of revival and development of pottery in the distcrict.
  9. Rayisa Brodovinska Since times immemorial people in Khotyn practiced wicker-braiding.

    Today, unfortunately, wicker doesn’t grow here above the Dniester Only one sedate woman still preserves this wise time- honoured craft, she can tell everything about it
  10. Some Famous Romanian Craftsman Gheorghe Magopat. Clay, water and fire,

    united in the magical triangle, during many millenniums created ceramic works of magic beauty, which are still used in Marginea, in the neighborhood and beyond Romania. Those ceramic works are a pride of a great many of museum collections.
  11. Master of Easter eggs painting. Dorina Istrate How many exhibitions,

    fairs and festivals are held in the country, everywhere it’s impossible to go without her wonderful painted Easter eggs.
  12. Rodica Bushku Rodica Bushku paints icons on glass. In the

    moments of the highest elation she portrays angels and Saints. These images are deep to infinity. They’re still symbols of Love, Belief, Truth and Light…
  13. The project “Joint Culture Heritage” The Festival took place on

    the 27th-28th December2008 in Romanian city of Suceava Groups from Ukraine “Cheremshyna” from Vashkivtsi and “Oberig” from Zastavna took part in this festival. Together with diverse Romanian groups, they demonstrated their art on the largest stage of the city
  14. The main attraction in Suceava The main attraction in Suceava

    was a real mini-train running along a specially designed mini- railway in the city downtown and evoking lots of joy among children and grown-ups.
  15. The works of craftsmen and of Bukovyna. Embroidered blouses, shirts,

    skirts, napkins and towels, woven goods, painted eggs, glass beads embroidery, woodcrafts, ceramics – this is not the full list of works brought by talented Ukrainian craftsmen.
  16. Expected results Expected results A new international event – annual

    Days of Cultural Dialogue as a new tradition in the cross- border area ; A new international tourist route directed at cultural diversity of cross-border region ;A film series, CDs with information dedicated to versatility of ethnic groups and their cultures in the cross- border area of Chernivtsi and Suceava ;
  17. National cuisines Chernivtsi citizens and guests could regale on real

    masterpieces of the Ukrainian, Romanian, Polish, Slovak, Hungarian, Jewish and German cuisines.
