Log Inoculation for Edible Fungi

A guide to creating your own outdoor fungi farm using the resources from the land!

1. Learn how to use logs for growing edible fungi
2. freshly cut log 2--3’ in height with a circumference of at least 1’ cinder blocks or clean cut longer logs/branches (for base) drill w/ 1/2” bits dowel plugs or bag of sawdust spawn candle (for candle wax)
3. a chainsaw or regular saw that has been cleaned with rubbing alcohol wipe cutting surfaces with spore oil lubricants desired log log for 12-24 hours in water

5. a spot that is cool, mostly moist and that receives no direct sunlight down cinder blocks or logs for base
6. holes about 1 ¼ inches deep (or ½ inch deeper than dowel plug), these holes should be equally-spaced apart around the circumference of the log in a ring pattern
7. holes with sawdust spores or dowel plugs until all have been sealed
8. holes with a small layer of hot candle wax
9. log on top of cinder blocks or base logs and allow for the specific fungi growth period to run its course log may be placed upright in a large bucket filled with sand log if there is a dry spell
