The Core Curriculum In core courses, students learn how business and management work and how they apply to the external environment. Students are introduced to the functions of organizations, managerial skills and the use of analytical tools for decision making and have an opportunity to apply what they have learned in various settings. Free Books! As a student in Findlay’s MBA program, you don’t have to worry about paying for your textbooks each term. All main* textbooks for your MBA classes are free as part of the University’s book rental program. You have the option to buy it at a reduced rate once the semester is over. *Classes may suggest additional course material. The additional materials are up to the discretion of the student to purchase. Undergraduate programs in business, environmental, safety and occupational health management, animal science, nuclear medicine technology, bilingual multicultural education, Japanese language and others have gained a reputation for preparing students for careers in areas with a high demand. Founded in 1882, the University is located in the Midwest city of Findlay, Ohio with nearly 40,000 residents. Campus is near the of the center of town in a safe, tree-lined residential area. Students from many states and more than 30 countries and territories globally choose to continue their education at UF. Scholarships UF offers IELP scholarships to international students of $1,500 per year, renewable each year of IELP enrollment. International graduate students are eligible for a $1,000 scholarship per year with a maximum amount of $2,000 during the MBA program. Requirements of Application 1. A minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0. 2. Fulfillment of prerequisite competencies. 3. Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution or first-professional doctorate-degree, specifically when no baccalaureate degree was offered (e.g., PharmD. etc.). 4. Submit official transcripts, which can be in the form of attested credentials from a University-recognized document verification agency, of all college-level work. Students whose native language is not English and who have not graduated from American universities must meet the previously listed admissions conditions plus: 1. Achieved a verified TOEFL Internet-based test (iBT) min. total score of 79 with 20 or better in speaking and 20 or better in writing or a verified international English Language Testing System (IELTS) academic score with a min. overall band score of 6.5 (with no individual band score below a 6.5). Students without a TOEFL or IELTS score are required to test in the Intensive English Language Program, and if necessary, complete coursework in English. 2. The MBA curriculum seeks to link theory with practice, as well as to address current and emerging issues in business. CERTIFIED MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTANT (CMA TRACK) Accounting is vital to business, nonprofits and government. Designed to meet the evolving needs of business, the CMA Track is recommended for the student who would like to practice as a Certified Management Accountant. CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANT (CPA) QUALIFIED TRACK Of all business disciplines, accounting has the most universal reach. Accounting is vital to business, nonprofits and government. The CPA Qualified Track is recommended for students who do not have an undergraduate degree in accounting and are interested in pursuing their CPA. HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT Hospitality and service management is currently the world’s largest employment sector, and the need for business-minded professionals is growing globally. This program equips students with the skills and knowledge needed to function in all aspects of the service industry. HEALTH CARE MANAGEMENT Health care management delivers a customized education for business professionals looking to enter or advance their careers in health care. Health care leaders are needed to help both private and public facilities stay current with new industry trends, emerging policies and regulations. CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANT (CPA TRACK) Of all of the business disciplines, accounting has the most universal reach. Accounting is vital to business, nonprofits and government. It is practiced in every organization and enterprise in the world. This program is recommended for students with an undergraduate degree in accounting who are interested in pursuing their CPA. A separate CPA track application is required. DEGREE REQUIREMENTS MBA REQUIREMENTS The Master of Business Administration Program requires the completion of 33 semester hours of course work. The 700-series classes should be taken in the student’s last term. PREREQUISITES FOR GENERAL MBA, HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT AND HEALTH CARE MANAGEMENT MBA 582* Survey of Accounting 2 semester hours MBA 583* Survey of Finance 2 semester hours MBA 584* Survey of Economics 2 semester hours PREREQUISITES FOR CPA, CPA QUALIFIED TRACK AND CMA MBA 582* Survey of Accounting 2 semester hours MBA 583* Survey of Finance 2 semester hours MBA 584* Survey of Economics 2 semester hours *Students may test out of the MBA prerequisites listed above through MBA waiver exams if they believe that they have the prerequisite knowledge gained through personal study and/or work experience. These waiver exams are given prior to the start of each term (Fall, Spring and Summer semesters).
