That’s what it’s like here, since each of our 30 single-gender halls lead their own signature events and have unique traditions for everyone to enjoy. Every incoming first-year student receives a randomly assigned hall and roommate, and every hall brings together students from every year of study. Each hall is a microcosm designed to be a cross-section of the entire student body. You’ll have every chance to expand your perspective by immersing yourself in things wonderfully unfamiliar. Whether that’s through musical performance, sacred music study, acting, filmmaking, improvisational comedy, dance, or fine arts, we’ve got thousands of ways to keep you inspired and plenty of space for you to stretch out and show the world what you’ve got. SNITE MUSEUM OF ART Featuring a growing permanent collection of more than 27,000 artworks from throughout history and across the world, the Snite Museum is open to all students as well as the public, and it is the perfect place to take a break, see priceless art, and keep your creativity flowing. AAHD GALLERY The pristine and professional Art, Art History, and Design gallery offers art students of all kinds the opportunity to display their work as part of group or solo exhibitions, and it often features work by faculty and artists from the community and elsewhere. We provide a space where students, community members, and visiting artists can come together to appreciate the arts in nearly every discipline. We’re proud to host regionally- recognized offerings like our Shakespeare at Notre Dame program, which stands as a center for Shakespearean scholarship, production, educational outreach, and research. And with state-of-the-art facilities (like Browning Cinema, Decio Mainstage Theatre, Leighton Concert Hall, and Philbin Studio Theater), the Center gives students the unique opportunity to watch performances, attend workshops run by visiting artists, rehearse and perform, and engage in coursework outside of the classroom. gallery displays new work by both our undergraduate and graduate students, from a range of classes including graphic design, photography, sculpture, and studio art. PHOTOGRAPHY GALLERY AT RILEY HALL Attracting professional artists from around the country, the Photography Gallery features at least eight exhibits per year, each of which are often accompanied by an opening party and speaking event that are meant to engage and enrich our students. CROSSROADS GALLERY AT NOTRE DAME CENTER FOR ARTS AND CULTURE Just off campus, this home for contemporary art is more than just a beautiful art gallery. Its mission is for students to bring art to the community and bring the community into the arts. With many shows per year, the gallery offers rich arts programming that includes after- school programs, workshops, and artist talks.
Community service is not just a hallmark of Notre Dame. It’s our backbone. Through the University’s Center for Social Concerns (CSC), almost all our students are active in service and community-engaged learning for academic credit. Opportunities exist locally and throughout the world. Community Service ª ª From providing education and clean water services across the globe to building houses right within St. Joseph County, the Center for Social Concerns (CSC) facilitates service opportunities for more than 3,500 students every year. ª ª A home for more than 600 weekly participants of all ages, The Robinson Community Learning Center is an outlet that helps students, residents, faculty, and partners get involved with outreach programming that benefits young people throughout the region. ª ª Every single residence hall and almost every one of our 400+ clubs and organizations involve a strong community service element.
