  3. WHY STUDY ABROAD? AT NOTRE DAME, WE BELIEVE THAT AN

INTEGRAL PART OF A WORLD-CLASS UNDERGRADUATE EDUCATION IS SERIOUS ACADEMIC ENGAGEMENT IN COUNTRIES OUTSIDE THE UNITED STATES. Our commitment to this belief is so strong that it is the University’s goal to give every eligible student an opportunity to study abroad before they graduate. From the challenges of developing critical foreign language skills and adjusting to a new culture, to the joys of lifelong friendships formed with host families, to boosting your resume through an international internship or service, many Notre Dame graduates will tell you that their most rewarding undergraduate experience was their Study Abroad program. But studying abroad is more than just a goal in itself; it needs to be an integrated part of overall academic formation. This requires planning and strategy and your academic advisors, Study Abroad staff, and international centers and institutes are here to help shape the experience that is right for you.

  9. WHERE TO START ELIGIBILITY Academic standing and adherence to community

standards are among the factors in eligibility for study abroad, as is program appropriateness to student academic formation and major. FINANCIAL INFORMATION For students who study abroad during the academic year, tuition, room, and partial board are covered. For students who study abroad in the summer or on another vacation period, charges will vary. All students will be assessed a Study Abroad fee and will pay for round-trip airfare to program locations. Because we want every eligible student to have an opportunity to study abroad, we work with the Office of Financial Aid to consider each case and can also direct you to other sources of funding. Please visit our website for additional financial details.
