  1. Have you ever… Who’s ever attend a play, movie, concert,

conference? To create the optimal experience for you all of those individuals had to work together. If any of those people failed to work as a team it would have changed your experience.
  2. Have you heard the phrase… Have you heard the phrase

‘we’ve always done it this way?’ - So what? Just b/c you’ve done it that way doesn’t mean it’s a good thing. Sometimes legacy decisions were right at the time, but are they still providing value today ‘We haven’t heard any complaints’ - the reason is b/c people aren’t using your product or if they were they’ve abandoned it. Some people may be dealing with it as is, but you won’t want people to tolerate your product. You want people to enjoy your product. You want to build evangelist to spread the word ‘It’s more of a hassle to change it’ - sometimes things cost more time and money upfront but ROI will be worth it in the end - planning for a vacation stinks but once you get there it’s worth it. What’s stuff that they’ve heard Realistically all of those things provides a subpar user experience - like given bread and water for dinner, it’ll get the job done, but who wants that?
  3. Who’s on my team If we take a play for

example. How exactly is the production put together? Who is involved Directors, stage hands, actors, weardrobe, box office, ushers, etc. But most important YOU the audience Think about your organization, who are the players on your team?
  4. Investors If you are getting investors in order to proceed

with your project storytelling is critical here in order to get buy-in
  5. Developers Talking to a developer is less about storytelling to

get buy-in. It’s more important to be clear and direct (like you’re talking to a very curious 5yr old). They often don’t care about why, but what is required of them to get the job done.
  6. Types of communiation Small - one on one: comma -

earring change Big - everyone needs to know - music change Build a communication plan on what matters, what is considered big and small
  7. Stand ups help mitigate the long conversations by creating a

    consistent daily communication channel
  8. Test assumptions quickly If you have an idea as a

group talk to your PM to schedule out when you’re going to test that idea. Because that would give you an opportunity to see what is working and what is with that idea and make sure it’s done quickly so you can iterate and get it back out there to test again.
  9. I would make sure there is someone or several people

who are not part of your team to test or at least not familiar with what has been discussed.
  10. Having the same objective in mind even though everyone has

their own little piece. It all has to be serving the main purpose. That’s where communication and collaboration come in. You need to make sure that when you come together your individual pieces make a whole that’s most optimal for the end user (even it’s just and MVP)
  11. Here are the people that you need. someone good with

deadlines, and overseer (PM, Scrum Master) - in charge of workflow Visionary someone to layout the master plan (Lead Architect) The wrangler keeping everyone together and informed (Dev manager, might have multiple in different roles) the communicator The Doers the ones that get taks done (individual team members) Stakeholders are the people who can make or break your dreams Generally the big players In house vs contractors
  12. Overseer Making it transparent when it is and is not

acceptable to disrupt the workflow Anticipation, planning
  13. Ideally you have those 5 meet in a room to

layout the plan (how do you get everyone communicating in the WFH, hybrid world) The overseer should be creating the plan on how often everyone needs to communicate Director schedule rehearsals with their actors and stagehands, etc. to practice how the show will be performed.
  14. Pushback on ‘this is the way our team is today’

    Form alliances Stakeholders - buyin
