Abstract: They say one dog year is equivalent to 7 human years. Given the speed of change in container technology, it often feels like there’s a similar rule for “cloud native years”. In this talk, Andy reflects on his journey with cloud native going back to 2014, so about 56 cloud native years ago. Over that time, a serendipitous combination of inexorable technology trends and random events led to the specific constellation of projects that we see in the cloud native ecosystem today. As cloud native reaches middle age, we consider where we are now, what brought us here, and where the paths that still lie ahead of us might lead.
