  1. Be on the same page ◦ Make sure you have

    common goals.
 ◦ Goals change. Revisit them every so often to see if anything has changed. 7
  2. Respect & Understanding ◦ It will make you more patient.

    ◦ Mutual respect makes your work environment enjoyable ◦ Respect allows you the freedom to trust the people they trust. ◦ If/when you disagree, talk it out. 9
  3. Find someone who compliments your strengths and weaknesses ◦ Look

    into doing a DISC assessment to figure out your behaviors ◦ Behaviors don’t necessarily equal strengths & weaknesses but will give you an idea of how you’d work together. 11
  4. Look for matching values ◦ Volunteer together ◦ Know the

    person’s work ethic ◦ Talk through belief systems so you can respect and understand each other more. 13
  5. Share off hours ◦ Instead of meeting at an office

    or coffee shop, take a walk or have a cocktail. ◦ Travel together. ◦ Support each other’s other interests. 15
  6. Money, Money, Money ◦ If you’re going to start an

    LLC or partnership, make sure the person you’re going into business with has sound financials. ◦ Inability to manage your personal finances doesn’t have to be a deal breaker but it should lead to a deeper conversation. 18
  7. Get it in writing ◦ Especially if you’re using your

    own money, make sure you have a contract. ◦ Contact an attorney to have them draft it for you. 20
  8. Have FUN! ◦ If we didn’t laugh together, we’d cry.
