I'm an Assistant Research Professor at Northern Arizona University, Flagstaff, Arizona, USA. I'm interested in sediment dynamics, which includes:

the physical and bio-chemical makeup of sediment deposits
the role of sediment heterogeneity in the physics of sediment transport
the stratigraphy and geomorphological forms that result from sediment transport and sedimentation.

I investigate these processes by developing optical and acoustic instrumentation which measures some aspect of sediment and/or flow (principally, small-scale sediment hydroacoustics, in-situ particle and bed imaging and flow-field/turbulence measurements).

I also write computational algorithms which make sense of the data. I try to make all the software I write open-source. Most of my good stuff I stick on my github site or my blog (see links below).
