This is how I felt after my wife and I bought our first home in 2010. I’ve never really been a “handy” person, and yet all of a sudden I was in charge of maintaining and repairing a brand new home – I was totally out of my league. For instance, I knew I needed to regularly flush my water heater and change my HVAC filter, but I had no idea how to do it. I was new to the area, so I had no idea who to call when I needed our carpets cleaned or an appliance repaired. I wanted to be a responsible homeowner – I just wished I had someone to guide me through the process.
