  1. Comparative ◦ We use comparative adjective with than to compare

a person or thing with another. ◦ Short adjectives have one or two syllables ◦ E.g. Loud is one syllable/ Pretty (Pret-ty) is two syllables. ◦ We add (er) to the adjective and add (than) to compare between two things. ◦ E.g. Pretty----Prettier ◦ She is prettier than her. ◦ Alan is smarter than Sam.
  2. Comparative ◦ We don’t change the ending of adjectives with

three or more syllables. We put more before the adjective instead. ◦ E.g. My car is more expensive than your car. ◦ The opposite of more is less. We use less in the same way as more. ◦ E.g. This book is less interesting than this book.
  3. Superlative ◦ We use superlative to compare a person or

a thing with a group of things or other people. ◦ We add ‘’the’’ and ‘’est’’ to the adjective. E.g. She is the prettiest girl in the classroom. We don’t change the ending of adjectives with three or more syllables we just add ‘’the most’’ before the adjective. E.g. He is the most talented artist in our class. The opposite of the most is the least. E.g. This is the least expensive dress in the shop.
  4. As…..as and not as….as ◦ If two people or things

are equal, we use as…as… When they are not equal, we say not as…as…. ◦ As+ adjective +as…. ◦ E.g. Your computer is as new as my computer. ◦ Your sister is not as smart as you…(It means you are smarter than your sister).
