Manage Your Facebook Page

Manage Your Facebook Page

Presenting your Facebook Page in the right way can be decisive in getting traffic to it and your shop. Grabbing people’s attention is more important than in the brick-and-mortar world as you cannot rely on passers by “popping in” for a quick nosy. You have to generate traffic by presenting yourself in a way, that keeps fans interested and gets the friends of fans to “like” you. In our White Papers we are exploring different ways to do this. In this particular one we will take a closer look at the basics of Facebook Page management.

  2. Introduction Presenting your Facebook Page in the right way can

be decisive in getting traffic to it and your shop. Posting photos, videos, questions and milestones. Facebook Admin Panel. The Facebook features “Pin to Top” and “Highlight”. Facebook Activity Log. Page name and Profile image.
  3. Page Name & Profile Image Your Page name and Page

Profile image are the two things that will follow you around Facebook. Choosing a name and an image that are easily recognized by your fans and will stick out in the news feed is crucial. Most business Pages use their brand, business or band name as Page name and their logo as Profile image, which is probably the best choice. They are certainly easily recognized by fans. For detailed information on the Cover image please consult our White Paper ‘Marketing your Facebook Shop’. The Profile picture needs to be 180 x 180 pixels to perfectly fit the space. When the Profile picture shows up on other parts of Facebook it sizes down to 32 x 32 pixels. Facebook Activity Log The Activity Log, which you can access from the Admin Panel of you Page (Manage > Use Activity Log), allows you to manage the posts on your timeline. It gives you a handy overview of your Page activities and lets you edit past posts. You can highlight, hide or delete them from within the Activity Log. You can also complete them with location information or change their dates, in case you want to update your Page with events that happened in the past or complete your company’s history.
  4. Bring Variety into You Posts Posting regularly and engaging with

your fans is of utmost importance as it helps to improve your Facebook EdgeRank. Your social media marketing strategy should thus encompass a wide range of tactics. Avoid too much product pushing and focus on engagement as social media is all about conversations and lightweight interactions. Facebook gives you the opportunity to do this by offering different posting options: VIDEOS & PHOTOS are the most shared items on Facebook. This is one convincing argument for uploading product images, fashion shoot videos or photos of your company’s events. After all, social marketing is about sharing. Post QUESTIONS to increase fan engagement. You can start your own poll about your fans’ favourite products from your shop or their holiday plans. The important point is to increase engagement between your Page and its fans. Publishing MILESTONES sparks attention when announcing new additions to your Facebook shop or updates to your company’s history. Choose a high quality image (843 x 403 pixels) as the post will be stretched across your timeline.
  5. Fb “Pin to T op” & “Highlight” Use the Facebook

features “Pin to Top” and “Highlight” in order to keep your most important announcements visible for as long as possible. Humans are visual beings and providing constant visual reminders for your products is important! So use those visuals, post them to your wall regularly, make them properly visible on your timeline and hook your fans’ curiosity. The HIGHLIGHT feature will stretch out your post and cover the entire width of your timeline. This will make it more visible and indicate that something important has been posted. Unlike the pinned post, the highlighted post will moved down your timeline immediately as new posts appear at the top. The PIN TO TOP feature will keep the pinned post at the top of your timeline for up to 7 days. This ensures that many of your Page visitors will see it without hav- ing to re-post it every day. Keep in mind, that you can only use either one of these features on one post. You cannot highlight AND pin the same post. !
  6. The information fields Notifications, Messages, New Likes, Insights and Page

Tips all help you to manage your Page and keep an eye on your fans’ activities on you Page and around your posts: Admin Panel The Admin Panel is located at the top of your Facebook Page. You can access it via the ‘Admin Panel’ button in the upper-right corner. Opening up the Admin Panel will reveal a summary of what has been happening on your Page and gives you the opportunity to respond. You can also view statistical insights. Notifications Messages New Likes Insights Page Tips This will let you know if anybody has interacted with your posts or left a comment on your Page. This will inform you about messages left by visitors, to which you can respond and engage in a private conversation. This gives you a short overview of new fans and allows you to make any one of them admin when opening the “See all” view. When your Page has 30 fans or more, you can access the statistical insights: your fans’ demographics, your reach and how people are talking about your Page. Page Tips will advise you about steps you can take to improve your Page management.
