Open Access Research

My startup is an online research collaboration listing site and social media. It is similar to GitHub in that it hosts files that people can contribute to, but instead of code, it is for academic subjects. The aim of the project is to provide an optimized place for scholars who don't already have connections in school or are not satisfied with their current education.

2. Open-Access-Research is an academic publishing and collaboration platform that aims to deliver a polished product with a great user experience.
3. The problem The act of participating in academic subjects seems to be locked away to certain social classes that qualify for criteria that not everyone can be eligible for. The Result • be lonely • not have a big enough fan base • struggle mentally. This can be a real problem for people who • are just doing it as a hobby • They are not enrolled in a college or academic program It can be hard for scholars to get the attention and validation that they need to be successful. 4. So I came up with an idea for a solution to this – a social networking website designed for scholars who don’t already have connections with other scholars like in university. Its niche extends beyond that though, and anyone can use it. The solution
5. How It works Instead of publishing finished work, users can create project repositories. Repositories can be used to organize and manage sources and files involved in a project. OSF.io repository Research Rabbit
6. Listing After the repository has been created, the user can choose privacy settings. They can choose to only make it only available to specific people, or they can make the repository a discoverable listing, as shown in the 2 pictures. If it is set to discoverable, the user can choose who, and how they want people to contribute to their project using join requirements, an application, and a roles hierarchy. 7. These features were inspired by GitHub Some Non-member Features • follow a project and receive updates • “fork” a project, or copy its contents and make their own version Ever heard of GitHub? Yeah, like that, but not for code. Members in a research project are governed by roles like in Discord or Guilded; the roles determine their permissions. Depending on the privacy settings, these features will be available to certain users. admin Features: • Accepting new members • Uploading and managing files • Changing project listing • Change “read me” file Member Features • Send messages in the chat • Download repositories • Submit files or “pull requests” • Send Resource links • Reply to files with another file or natively or “issues”

Bridging academics and social media Our product involves common characteristics found in social media like • DM messaging • Profile customization • Group chats • Posts profile customization on Guilded The profile will show groups the user has participated in and groups they founded, along with bio information. 9. The Hub not THE hub We want our product to feel like home to scholars – the first place they think to go for what they need. This means: • Easy-to-navigate UI • Community • Dev-User interaction • Events – Good for the newbies
