Service Design for Social Innovation in Uganda

Valentina Salvi
ProfsoUX 2020

This presentation is targeted at researchers, designers, and change makers.

I recently visited Uganda on behalf of the charity ‘Plan International’ to understand how as a charity, they can support marginalized girls in rural areas of Uganda to secure sustainable employment / entrepreneurship, whilst at the same time positively impacting the environment.

I will share my experience of putting some of the Sustainable Development Goals by the United Nations at the center of my research work, my approach on field, the tools I applied and the key principles/tips I extracted from this and other projects in Africa on how to successfully apply Service Design for Social Innovation in vulnerable contexts.
