Information architecture and user centred design for the University of Auckland staff intranet
A talk I gave to the Auckland branch of the Usability Professionals Association about the development of a new information architecture for the University of Auckland's staff intranet.

: IA Validation Tasks 1. You would like to apply for some research funding. Find out what the deadline is, and complete the application form. 2. A potential student approaches you to find out whether they can enrol in your course. Check their student records. 3. You will be using transparencies for you next lecture. Find out whether the room you will be teaching in has an overhead projector. 4. You've developed some new software/written a text book. Find out more about the University’s intellectual property policy. 5. Graduation ceremonies are coming up. Find out what the exact dates are. 6. You would like to nominate a colleague/member of staff for a teaching award. Nominate the staff member for a teaching award. 7. You are planning 6 month sabbatical next year. Apply for leave. 8. You are teaching at Tamaki this year. Find out how to get there. 9. You would like to add a course to your programme. Find out what the procedure is. 10. You have had a paper accepted at an international conference. Find out the relevant travel policies, make airfare and accommodation bookings, and arrange for the conference registration fee to be paid.
