I propose that field of User Experience offers a useful theoretical framework when evaluating the qualities of digital archives of traditional music. I say this for a couple of reasons. The first is that User Experience provides a realistic, standardised and well-evaluated model of people and their behaviours. The second reason is that the creators of digital spaces are increasingly using the language and repertoire of User Experience in creating them, so it seems only fair to evaluate digitally-supported spaces on their own terms.
