How to Create a Genlighten Store Banner using Picasa

This quick tutorial explains how to use Picasa to create a banner image for your Genlighten store but you can use the same principles to create other image sizes. For example, just change the numbers to 851px by 315 px to create cover photos for your Facebook page.

3. 3 You’re going to need a banner image. Saturday, May 5, 12
4. 4 Banners are 100 pixels x 750 pixels. Saturday, May 5, 12
5. 5 This photo was too small to use. If you try to stretch a photo that’s too small it will be blurry. Saturday, May 5, 12
6. 6 Photoshop whiz? No need to read on. Saturday, May 5, 12
7. 7 Not sure how to crop and resize? No problem! We’re happy to help. Saturday, May 5, 12

10. 10 An easy way? Try Picasa! It’s free. Picasa is an easy-to-use free program that you can download and install from picasa.google.com. Saturday, May 5, 12
11. 11 Once you’ve installed Picasa … I can’t explain how to install and use Picasa, but it’s pretty easy to do! Saturday, May 5, 12
12. 12 … select a photo by clicking on it. Saturday, May 5, 12
13. 13 Make sure it’s at least 750 px wide. Select “View” and choose “Properties” to see size. Nice photo but too small Saturday, May 5, 12
14. 14 Double-click on your photo to open it. Saturday, May 5, 12
15. 15 Select “Crop.” Saturday, May 5, 12
16. 16 Choose “Add Custom Aspect Ratio.” Saturday, May 5, 12

19. 19 100 x 750 is now a pre-set crop option. The banner crop size will be there when you need it. Saturday, May 5, 12
20. 20 Crop your photo. You can undo any change, even if you save the image. User the “revert” feature. Saturday, May 5, 12
21. 21 Now select “Text” to add wording. Saturday, May 5, 12
22. 22 Change style and color using the controls above. Add text by clicking on the ABC button. Saturday, May 5, 12
23. 23 Don’t worry! That gray outline will disappear when you’re done. Drag the gray outline to position text. Saturday, May 5, 12
