Sharing Achievment

For some of us, drawing attention to what we are proud of daunts us. Fear of criticism or being deemed boastful prevents us from sharing what we have achieved. But, there are many benefits of speaking of our successes. I'll share why it's worth finding opportunities to share we what we achieve, and a few tips on how we can do it.

    Ship a project? • Solve a problem? • Are there goals you’re working towards? • Have you learned something recently? • Did you try something new? • Help someone else achieve something?

    lists • Reflect on examples of how you’ve contributed and what you’ve achieved • Be specific • Speak about why it was important to you • With your goals in mind, pick the mediums and times you are most comfortable sharing
  3. OK, TO SUM UP.. • It feels safer not to

    share, but no one knows what we have achieved unless we make it obvious. • We all have plenty to share. Achievements doesn’t mean success, it can be experiences or learnings • Work out what you want. Goals can be useful. • Find ways that work for you
  4. OK, SO NOW MY TURN.. • I added an introduction

    slide. Goal to get better at talking about myself. • I ran 5km last year - the furthest I’ve ever run. Person goal of fitter on the inside • I’m working on sharing positive feedback in one one ones and keeping notes. Helps me keep track of what I’ve done to and practice sharing my achievements with my boss who can help me progress through my career. • I’ve started blogging and enjoying the discussion it’s prompting. Working on my goal to improve my story telling while also sharing my achievements • Last year, I spoke at Web Directions Culture - a conference I admire, feedback was positive. Goal to improve my public speaking, identify more achievements and speak at a conference! • Since then, I’ve improved my slide design skills and today I shared the deck with my team. Relates to getting better at all of the above goals :) • And, I always end my talks with a picture of my dog because I’m super proud of the fact that I’ve kept her alive for 4 years.. and she’s cute as a button
