statue is Sasaki Sadako. I'll tell you the story of Sadako. On August 6th, 1945, an atomic bomb was dropped over Hiroshima. This happened when she was only two years old, but she survived. When she was in elementary school, she was good at sports. So she wanted to be a P.E. teacher. In the sixth grade, she was selected as a member of the relay team for the school's sports day. About a month after the sports day, she suddenly became very sick. Her sickness was caused by the bomb. So she couldnt go to school and run anymore. In the hospital, she wished for her good health and over 1,000 paper cranes. Cranes are a symbol of long life in Asia. She didnt lose her hope but she passed away when she was only 12. After that, her statue was built by her friends. People around the world send paper cranes to Hiroshima. They are for Sadako and for peace. My happiness is running. I'm in the track and field team. I practice running long distance. I think Sadako wanted to practice running like me, but she couldnt run because of the war. So I think world peace is the most important thing to enjoy our lives. Thank you. ڭ Պ ॻ ͷ ޠ จ Λ ࠶ ͢ Δ ෦ ͤ ʹ ͭ ͍ ͯ ޠ Δ ෦
