Associate member of SCAR, no govt funding or interest • DTU Space Antarctica focus: airborne campaigns - ESA CryoSat/GOCE + geophysics data gaps IceGrav and PolarGap 2009-15 SCAR RINGS 2024-25
2. Satellite validation .. ESA CryoSat, GOCE, CIMR, Cristal, Quantum … Flagship science opportunities to be targeted by Andromeda Station & University Research hub: - Ice sheet and ice shelf changes, ice-ocean interaction, bathymetry, sea level - in situ and airborne - Satellite validation campaigns – sea-ice, land ice, ice temperatures, sub-ice geophysics - Geology, geophysics, land-ice interactions, land uplift (GNSS, gravimetry) - Biosphere science … in-situ (and space!) Logistics and access: - Small / new Antarctic players – easy access, old ”statements” on Antarctica costs = 5 x Arctic not true .. - Zero-emission / hydrogen-driven vehicles – essential, green agenda - Sør-Rondane mountains and blue-ice areas (meteorites!) - International station (avoiding national logistics”emperors”), simpler bureaucracy (hopefully)
