DeKalb County Property Tax & Millage Rate Town Hall

On August 11, 2022 Commissioner Lorraine Cochran-Johnson hosted the DeKalb County Property Tax & Millage Rate Town Hall to assist residents in understanding their annual tax assessment and how to take advantage of tax breaks for those most vulnerable. Topics included the following: Understanding Your Tax Assessment, Appealing Your Property Taxes, The Role of E-Host In DeKalb Taxes, The Homestead Exemption & How It Affects Your Tax Liability, The Millage Rate Defined, How County Property Tax Liability Is Determined, The Role of Property Values In Tax Assessment, How Tax Dollars Are Used, and Tax Breaks For Seniors, Veterans & Disabled Residents. The speakers included: Lorraine Cochran-Johnson (Commissioner, DeKalb County District 7), Irvin Johnson (Tax Commissioner, DeKalb County, GA), Calvin Hicks (Tax Assessor, DeKalb County, GA) and T.J. Sigler (Director Office of Management & Budget, DeKalb County, GA).
