MODEL Christ’s Christ’s MENTORING PART 2
Romans 15:4 AMP 4 “For whatever was written in earlier
times was written for our instruction,”
Romans 15:4 AMP 4 “So that through endurance and the
encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope and overflow with confidence in His promises.”
Is a path that leads to opportunities to choose correctly.
Life
Is a path that is filled with all kinds of
test and trials. Life
The purpose of life is to prepare us for Eternity.
The purpose of life is to give us opportunities to
become more like Jesus.
It is an opportunity to grow in knowledge & in
God’s grace.
Life is an opportunity to learn how to correctly use
this tremendous God-quality that we call WILL .
We are free to make our lives and ourselves anyway
we choose .
And remember, not choosing is a choice.
No choice is a choice, so use the incredible power
of your WILL carefully. (Quote from John Bunyan)
Christ’s Christ’s WINNING TO SOMEONE
John 1:41 NLT 41 “Andrew went to find his brother,
Simon, and told him, “We have found the Messiah” (which means “Christ”).”
John 1:42 NLT 42 “Then Andrew brought Simon to meet
Jesus. Looking intently at Simon,”
John 1:42 NLT 42 “Jesus said, “Your name is Simon,
son of John —but you will be called Cephas” (which means “Peter”).”
There was no question in Andrew’s mind that Jesus was
the Messiah.
Not only did he tell his brother, but he was
also eager to introduce others to Jesus.
Salvation is just the beginning, it is just the door,
it just the gates to a path that leads you ever upward.
1 Corinthians 12:13 NLT 13 “Some of us are Jews,
some are Gentiles, some are slaves, and some are free.”
1 Corinthians 12:13 NLT 13 “But we have all been
baptized into one body by one Spirit, and we all share the same Spirit.”
When we become a Christian , the Holy Spirit takes
up residence in us,
And we are born into God’s family.
When we are baptized into Christ and put on Christ,
We are also Sealed in the Holy Spirit as sons
and daughters of God.
We begin our new life in Jesus Christ, born of
water and Spirit,
Washed clean from sin by the Blood of Christ.
We have been made a new creature in Jesus Christ,
With our names written in the book of life.
God add us to the church and our sights are
set on eternal life in glory with Jesus Christ.
HELPING New Life New Life START UP their SOMEONE
Luke 5:1 NLT 1 “One day as Jesus was preaching
on the shore of the Sea of Galilee, great crowds pressed in on him to listen to the word of God.”
Luke 5:2 NLT 2 “He noticed two empty boats at
the water’s edge, for the fishermen had left them and were washing their nets.”
Luke 5:3 NLT 3 “Stepping into one of the boats,
Jesus asked Simon, its owner,”
Luke 5:3 NLT 3 “to push it out into the
water. So he sat in the boat and taught the crowds from there.”
Luke 5:4NLT 4 “When he had finished speaking, he said
to Simon, “Now go out where it is deeper, and let down your nets to catch some fish.””
Luke 5:5 NLT 5 ““Master,” Simon replied, “we worked hard
all last night and didn’t catch a thing.”
Luke 5:5 NLT 5 “But if you say so, I’ll
let the nets down again.””
Luke 5:6 NLT 6 “And this time their nets were
so full of fish they began to tear!”
Simon Peter was awestruck at miracle, and his first response
was to realize his own insignificance in comparison to this man’s greatness.
Peter knew that Jesus had healed the sick and driven
out demons,
But he was amazed that Jesus cared about his day-
to-day routine and understood his needs.
God is interested not only in saving us but also
in helping us in our daily activities.
1 Thessalonians 2:7 AMP 7 “But we behaved gently when
we were among you, like a devoted mother tenderly caring for her own children.”
As an Apostle, Paul is a man of authority, But
he used his authority in love.
The babies in Christ sensed his tender loving care as
he nurtured them.
He was indeed like a loving mother who truly cared
for her children.
Paul had patience with the new Christian, he nourished &
protected them.
HELPING Significance Significance FIND their SOMEONE
Mark 1:16 NLT 16 “One day as Jesus was walking
along the shore of the Sea of Galilee,”
Mark 1:16 NLT 16 “He saw Simon and his brother
Andrew throwing a net into the water, for they fished for a living.”
Mark 1:17 NLT 17 “Jesus called out to them, “Come,
follow me, and I will show you how to fish for people!””
Mark 1:18 NLT 18 “And they left their nets at
once and followed him.”
Jesus called the disciples to fish for people with the
same energy they had used to fish for food.
All the disciples after answering Jesus’s call their lives changed
dramatically.
They got to live day-by-day with the very Son of
God.
Know Him face-to-face, personally hear Him preach, hear His wonderful
stories and doctrinal teaching.
Witness the casting out of demons, observe all His miracles.
Jesus promised His disciples that if they followed Him,
He would make them to become fishers of men.
When we follow Christ, we are not satisfied for only
ourselves to know Jesus.
We want others to know, we want to persuade others
to come to Jesus.
We want our lights to shine brightly, so we clean
our lives up so that we can be lights for Jesus.
What a great significant and privilege we have to become
fishers of men.
HELPING Christ Mission Christ Mission ENGAGE WITH SOMEONE
Mathew 28:19 NLT 19 “Therefore, go and make disciples of
all the nations,”
Mathew 28:19 NLT 19 “Baptizing them in the name of
the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.”
Mathew 28:20 NLT 20 “Teach these new disciples to obey
all the commands I have given you.”
Mathew 28:20 NLT 20 “And be sure of this: I
am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
Jesus left the disciples with these last words of instruction:
They were under His authority.
They were to make more disciples.
They were to baptize & teach these new disciples to
obey Christ.
Christ promised to be with them in their mission.
From now on their mission would be world-wide.
Jesus gave us the same commission to go and make
disciples.
This is our assignment that comes from a great authority.
Jesus assured as that He will be with us as
we pursue the assignment of making disciples.
2 Timothy 2:2 AMPC 2 “And the [instructions] which you
have heard from me along with many witnesses,”
2 Timothy 2:2 AMPC 2 “transmit and entrust [as a
deposit] to reliable and faithful men”
2 Timothy 2:2 AMPC 2 “who will be competent and
qualified to teach others also.”
Disciple needs to be equipped to pass on their faith.
Our work as Church is not done until new believers
are able to make disciples of others.
CONLUSION
Discipleship is a “Christian Development Process” that finds its home
in the local church.
However, If the local church rejects this process we are
out of the will of God
And disassociate ourselves from the blessings of God for our
communities.
The great omission in the Great Commission is the absence
of accountability
When we work accountability into our lives, we begin to
cultivate order and effectiveness. (By Bobby Harrington & Bill Hull)
Many times men have not been as faithful in maintaining
the integrity of the gospel with which we have entrusted.
A faithful preacher does always obey the Lord in everything.
(By Jon Quinn)
Millions of followers of Christ took this Commission, lived the
commission and died for commission.
