Right Right UNDERSTANDING UNDERSTANDING G O S P E L
OF THE PART 2 (Gospel Community) OF THE
Acts 2:42 NLT 42 “All the believers devoted themselves to
the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship,”
Acts 2:42 NLT 42 “and to sharing in meals (including
the Lord’s Supper), and to prayer.”
Acts 2:43 NLT 43 “A deep sense of awe came
over them all, and the apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders.”
Acts 2:44 NLT 44 “And all the believers met together
in one place and shared everything they had.”
Acts 2:45 NLT 45 “They sold their property and possessions
and shared the money with those in need.”
Acts 2:46 NLT 46 “They worshiped together at the Temple
each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper,"
Acts 2:46 NLT 46 “and shared their meals with great
joy and generosity—”
Acts 2:47 NLT 47 “all the while praising God and
enjoying the goodwill of all the people.”
Acts 2:47 NLT 47 “And each day the Lord added
to their fellowship those who were being saved.”
The Gospel is proclaimed in order that a gospel community
might be formed.
The good news constitutes a people.
The formation of a gospel community gets to the “WHY”
of Christ’s death & resurrection.
Our personal salvation incorporates us into the family of God.
New believers in Christ needs to be in a gospel
community,
Where they can learn God’s Word, pray and mature in
the faith.
The ultimate aim of the Gospel is the glory of
the God who brings salvation through judgment.
And the gospel community is what puts that glory on
display.
Gospel Community Gospel Community MEMBERS PROTECTS It’s
1 Peter 5:8 NLT 8 “Stay alert! Watch out for
your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.”
The most vulnerable members of any herd, flock or family
are those who have strayed or have been left behind.
Lions attack sick, young or struggling animals.
They choose victims who are alone or not alert.
Be vigilant means to be alert to spiritual pitfalls of
life & take appropriate steps to make certain that we do not stumble.
Psalms 145:20 NLT 20 “The Lord protects all those who
love him, but he destroys the wicked.”
Satan is both cunning and cruel,
he attacks when least expected and desires to destroy completely
those whom he attacks.
PROVERBS 2:8 NLT 8 “He guards the paths of the
just and protects those who are faithful to him.”
Victory comes when we remain faithful and committed to God
through our gospel community,
Because God is greater than our enemy.
Gospel Gospel COMMUNITY COMMUNITY ENCOURAGEMENT IS YOUR PRIMARY SOURCE OF
SUPPORT ACCOUNTABILITY
Philippians 2:3 NLT 3 “Don’t be selfish; don’t try to
impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves.”
Philippians 2:4 NLT 4 “Don’t look out only for your
own interests, but take an interest in others, too.”
We are to lay aside selfishness and treat others with
respect and common courtesy.
Considering other’s interest as more important than our own links
us with Christ,
Who was a true example of humility.
Showing genuine interest in others is a positive step forward
in maintaining unity among believers.
Every believer must properly assess themselves,
Such assessment would lead to valuing others.
1 Thessalonians 5:11 NLT 11 “So encourage each other and
build each other up, just as you are already doing.”
We live in a broken world where everything calls us
toward selfishness & despair.
Sin steals joy, our bodies break down, our plans falter,
our dreams die, our resolve weaken, our perspective dims.
Our encouragement is more meaningful when we take enough interest
in others. encouragement
Be sensitive to other’s need of encouragement, and offer supportive
words or actions. encouragement
If a fellow believer is engaging in gossip,
Find words to encourage them toward Christ-honoring speech.
Be gracious rather than legalistic. LEGALISTIC
The more you can identify with your fellow believer’s battle,
the more loving your encouragement will be. encouragement
Be courageous to carefront sin with kindness & gentleness.
Gospel Gospel COMMUNITY COMMUNITY HELPS YOU DEVELOP YOUR Gifts TO
USE IT Gifts EFFECTIVELY
ROMANS 12:4 NLT 4 “Just as our bodies have many
parts and each part has a special function,”
ROMANS 12:5 NLT 5 “So it is with Christ’s body.
We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other.”
As a human body is a unity with many members,
Each having its function, so is the body of Christ.
The Church is a unified body under the headship of
Christ,
but the members have different functions.
Paul uses the concept of the human body to teach
how believers should live and work together.
Just as the parts of the body function is under
the direction of the brain,
So is believers are to work together under the command
and authority of Christ.
ROMANS 12:6 NLT 6 “In his grace, God has given
us different gifts for doing certain things well.”
ROMANS 12:6 NLT 6 “So if God has given you
the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you.”
ROMANS 12:7 NLT 7 “If your gift is serving others,
serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well.”
ROMANS 12:8 NLT 8 “If your gift is to encourage
others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously.
ROMANS 12:8 NLT 8 “If God has given you leadership
ability, take the responsibility seriously.”
ROMANS 12:8 NLT 8 “And if you have a gift
for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.”
God gives us gifts so we can build up His
Church.
To use them effectively, we have to realize…
That all gifts and abilities come from God.
Understand that not everyone has the same gifts.
Know who we are & what we do best.
Dedicate our gifts to God’s service and not to our
personal success.
Be willing to utilize our gifts wholeheartedly,
Not holding back anything from God’s service.
Our role is to be faithful and to seek ways
to serve others with what Christ has given us.
CONCLUSION
When encouragement is absent from the life of God’s people
encouragement
They will feel unloved, unimportant, useless, & forgotten.
God knows His people are in need of grace-filled reminders,
So He put us in a gospel community
To build & encourage us every day until His Son
returns.
HEBREWS 3:13 NLT 13 “You must warn each other every
day, while it is still “today,”
HEBREWS 3:13 NLT 13 “so that none of you will
be deceived by sin and hardened against God.”
HEBREWS 3:14 NLT 14 “For if we are faithful to
the end, trusting God just as firmly…”
HEBREWS 3:14 NLT 14 “…as when we first believed, we
will share in all that belongs to Christ.”
