    audience is online! ❖ Consider the demographics! ❖ Schedule your posts via Hootsuite or use the new Facebook scheduler! ❖ Most people post during the work week, yet! ❖ Tweets get the most RTs at nights on on Sundays! ❖ FB interactions skyrocket on the weekends

    posts should be info, tips, humor, conversation, quotes, news, questions! ! 20% promoting your business or cause
  4. 4. Envision you’ve just entered a party… ❖ Use the

    same etiquette you’d use in-person at a social event! ❖ Respond to comments, inquiries! ❖ Get off your soap box! ❖ Don’t get political, avoid religious comments! ❖ Interact, engage with people; don’t turn your backs to them! ❖ Whether or not to “friend:” Would you engage w/ that person in-person?

    ❖ Phrase your post as though you’re talking with, not at, someone! ❖ Tag people and other businesses

    traffic in 2017 will be video! ❖ Photos, videos are an extension of your brand! ❖ Should be professional, yet not too formal. ! ❖ Don’t upload too many pics — pick the best and use those! ❖ Add humor: ecards, memes, quote generators

    post on your personal pages vs. your business pages.! ❖ There is an overlap of our personal and social worlds! ❖ Listen to your inner voice as to where to draw the line! ❖ Personal account is spontaneous, business account needs more thought, a plan

    organizations! ❖ Promote what others are doing! ❖ Share your “kudos” ! ❖ Provide reviews on Facebook, Google +, Yelp, etc.! ❖ Help out a budding page by commenting, not just liking their posts
  9. 9. Do NOT sell, over-promote, brag! ❖ That will turn

    people off!! ❖ It’s a communication platform, a community-building platform, a customer service platform… ! ❖ Have you ever been in a conversation where someone talks about themselves the whole time? #annoying #awkward!! ❖ … unless, you use the appropriate tools such as ads or sponsored content. Or if you tactfully craft in the 20% portion.
  10. 11. Know Facebook Etiquette ❖ Facebook for business: Post 2-3x/week!

    ❖ Rarely use hashtags on FB: 1 is fine, 10 is not! ❖ Respond to ALL comments—-the good, bad & the ugly! ❖ Ask open-ended questions! ❖ Businesses use 1st person plural: we, us, our, ours. “We are happy to welcome a new business to town!”! ❖ Public figures/people use 1st person singular: I, my, mine “I was honored to represent the banking industry.”

    ! ❖ The # is used to mark keywords & topics in a tweet. ! ❖ Created organically by Twitter users to categorize messages.! ❖ Tweets that include # have 2x more engagement than those without. ! ❖ Respond to all DMs, questions, comments ASAP! ❖ Don’t use all 140 characters!! ❖ Don’t just “followback” everyone

    ask people to follow you! ❖ Don’t overgram! ❖ Avoid family photos on business pages! ❖ Hold off on selfies, duck lips. Do we really need to see every angle of your face?! ❖ Always use hashtags, up to 11/post! ❖ NEVER post someone else’s photo without permission
