I am a husband, father of 2 and direct 4 businesses which fall under the banner of The Character Group. A former HPE and Accounting teacher, my passion now revolves around investing in family, building character in schools and organisations and respectfully disrupting the status quo. I try to achieve this by getting outside often and taking my clients and teams with me. I have deep gratitude for nature and this magnificent country of ours. I am acutely aware of the potential to be swept up in consumerism and capital gains. Therefore I try to create business opportunities that work towards the betterment of society and for my professional development at the same time. The Third Space, by Dr Adam Fraser, came into my life about 3-4 years ago. Shortly after having our first child I was searching for ways to be more present for my family and to bring greater intentionality to my work. This focus in my life helped me to be the better in many facets of life. It helped me to be mindful of how I turn up at home, work and other areas of my life. I hope The Third Space will be well received by you.

  7. How might you utilise the Third Space in your life.

    1. Spend a few minutes jotting down your key areas of life and how you currently transition from one to the next. 2.   8. Summary from the session for those that missed it: -

    Participants did a wonderful job of identifying areas in their life where the third space could be introduced. These included: transport to and from university or work, inserting the third space to separate study periods and moving onto new content, spending quality time with partners and loved ones, using their hobbies or a physical activity to allow them to move into the third space before going on to the next thing, using meditation or quiet reflective time to get past a difficult thought or situation before going on to the next thing. - Many participants contributed to chat and discussions that they tend to possess traits of perfectionism. They admitted to wanting to do everything perfect before moving on to the next task and that sometimes anxiety creeps into their day because they just want to get things right. The Third Space could potentially help these people to focus less on perfect during a task and perhaps more on the right frame of mind before entering that task. - Even though it was great to hear from many students, another observation during the session was that people were a little hesitant to give their response to the rest of the group. No doubt speaking in front of a whole group you can’t see can be a little intimidating. Maybe if we tap into the Third Space before we enter an online classroom and affirm to ourselves that we are here to learn and contribute it might help us to be more present and willing. - The Third Space seemed to resonate with people that constantly juggle life and allow their routine to govern their day. Some feedback in the chat was that participants could relate and thought they need to give themselves more defined moments and opportunities to prepare for the next thing. Some students mentioned that they could replace quantity wit quality so that there was more meaning and purpose to what hey were doing.
