  3. The way in which people work is not always apparent.

Too often, assumptions are made as to how tasks are performed rather than unearthing the underlying work practices. By making the work visible, designers create a more intimate view of the workplace landscape. - Lucy Suchman
  4. Participants Lead Encouraging without interrupting Context: team, tools, awareness, familiarity,

hopes. First impressions: actions, flow, pauses, uncertainties. Sit still and pay attention Wrapping up: describe the experience, next steps. Check in: show and tell what’s changed, making progress? Time together exploring and learning. Wrapping up: describe experience
  5. At the core of the research is a relationship. We

aim to be great  conversational partners,  attentive to their language, pace and experiences. We observe in a way that  minimises the feeling being   watched or judged.  We are  upfront  about what information we are collecting and why, including who will have access to the information. The participant owns their data. We  adapt  to suit the needs of participant to ensure they are  comfortable  at all times throughout the research journey. We look out for our participants at all times  taking   care to protect  their privacy and their organisations privacy/reputation.
  6. Constructing and using video effectively is a challenge and an

art. Finding the right clips that are exactly on topic. Putting them together so there is enough context and emotion. But succinct and tight enough that you hold people’s attention. There is also a burden of responsibility, to tell authentic stories. - Charlie Cochrane
  7. Lessons Learned: Experiment & learn together, Casual core team chats,

Make data visible, Share as you go, Practical considerations.
