TRANSITIONING FROM PRINT TO WEB
Obligatory Introduction Justine Arreche I WORK I TWEET I SPEAK

LET’S GET RIGHT DOWN TO IT, SHALL WE?
LET’S GET RIGHT DOWN TO IT, SHALL WE? You can’t
just say without any kind of knowledge...
True, there are some similarities. But there are some differences
that are good to know to start.
It’s the differences make the difference.
START OFF BY TAKING A LOOK AT THE WAY THE
WEB WORKS. Too often when print designers transition to web they try to reinvent the wheel.

TEACH YOURSELF SOME BASIC CODE LANGUAGES: HTML CSS Javascript
The better you understand the way the web is built
the better you’ll be able to design for it.
Look up some user groups in your area and join
them. There will be plenty of people to help you learn the tricks of the trade. GOOGLEZ Columbus Ruby Brigade
Grids still work the same way! Keep using them. They
will help you develop and keep your content clear for the viewer.
Grids still work the same way! Keep using them. They
will help you develop and keep your content clear for the viewer.
Let go of being pixel perfect.
Browsers render code differently. Most likely your designs will look
“off” on at least one browser (I’m lookin’ at you IE...)
REMEMBER YOUR PRINT BACKGROUND. Integrate the design theories you learned
for print into the web.
Think of all the ways you make a print piece
interesting and try to apply them. Patterns Transparencies Typopgraphy Javascript effects
With all that being said, DON’T BE AFRAID TO GET
CREATIVE! Test the boundries of what you’re comfortable developing.
