Software gives us super-powers!
By bringing together the our Leeds industrial heritage of programmable weaving machines, adding new farming robots (like farmbot.io), kids who code (via Code Club), IoT smart building sensors (from companies like OpenSensors.io), and close involvement from two Leeds universities and Centre for Alternative Technology, we're developing a new Centre for Future Cities centre in Abbey Mills, Kirkstall - see https://www.kvdt.org.uk/centre-for-future-cities/
The cities of the future will save $$$ by using software-enabled (but human-controlled) systems to monitor and adapt energy use, reduce the need for transportation of food, and empower people to program their environment in harmony with renewables.
