3. The General AI Challenge ◎ Multi-round challenge. Each round designed to tackle a crucial research problem in human-level AI development ◎ Funded and organized by R&D company GoodAI ◎ $5mil in prize money over the following years
4. Gradual Learning ◎ First round of the General AI Challenge ◎ Ran from February - September 2017 ◎ Challenged participants to create AI agents that could demonstrate gradual learning ◎ Over 500 registrants ◎ $7000 prize money awarded to finalists www.goodai.com
5. Solving the AI Race ◎ First non-programming round of the Challenge ◎ Open for submissions 18 Jan - 18 May 2018 ◎ $15,000 of prizes www.goodai.com
6. Objectives of the round Primary objective: find a solution or set of solutions for mitigating the risks associated with the AI race. Secondary objectives: create discussion around the topic in order to gain a better understanding of the nature of the AI race, raise awareness of the race, and to get as diverse an idea pool as possible. www.goodai.com
7. Why the AI Race? It is important to address the potential pitfalls of a race towards transformative AI, where: ◎ Key stakeholders, including the developers, may ignore or underestimate safety procedures, or agreements, in favor of faster utilization ◎ The fruits of the technology won’t be shared by the majority of people to benefit humanity, but only by a selected few www.goodai.com
