People believe that back-end development is more complicated than front-end development. Is it true? Partly, yes. Back-end developers have less visible interfaces to interact with, because they work on the site's logic. Users don't see their area of work directly, because all actions are carried out outside the user's browser or even computer.
Back-end development is stealthy, but vital. When you press "Enter", making a query in the website's search bar, the signal is immediately sent to the server, and then processed to display the information on the screen. This is called the logic of the site, which consists of 3 simple elements:
- Sending information from the user,
- Its processing on the server,
- Getting the information and formatting the code in a readable form.
Building and maintaining this logic is just part of the back-end developer job. Today, we interviewed a Shakuro specialist with 25 years of experience in IT to answer the questions about day-to-day life in the back-end development department in our agency.
In our interview, discover:
- What makes a good code,
- Is programming art, craft or engineering,
- How agile development works,
- Why programmers have 3 hour long meetings on Fridays.
