  4. © 2015 4 Overview ESS  allows  the  employee  access  to

     a  range  of  information  stored  within  our   payroll  system.  Some  of  the  information  you  will  access  to  includes  : •Viewing  and  editing  of  personal  information •Viewing,  editing  and  adding  details  of  family  members •Viewing  of  leave  balance  and  applying  for  leave •Viewing  of  payslips  and  exporting  to  various  formats  e.g.  PDF •Viewing  of  IRP5  and  exporting  to  various  formats  e.g.  PDF •Claims  and  overtime  applications
  5. © 2015 5 Getting  started:  What  do  I  need? •

    Access  to  the  internet   • A  web  browser  e.g..  Internet  Explorer  8  or  Mozilla  Firefox  3. • A  Britehouse  company  e-­‐mail  account • This  includes  all  the  Britehouse  group  of  companies Britehouse  note • You  will  receive  an  email  with  instructions  on  how  to  activate  your  account
  6. © 2015 6 Activating  your  ESS  account • Before  you

     can  use  the  ESS  application,  you  need  to  activate  your  ESS  user   account.   • You  will  receive  an  activation  e-­‐mail,  similar  to  that  shown  on  the  next  slide.   • The  e-­‐mail  has  an  activation  link  as  well  as  details  of  the  information  that  you   will  be  required  to  enter  to  complete  the  activation  process.   IMPORTANT • Please  DO  NOT  forward  this  e-­‐mail  to  your  colleagues,  as  it  contains  a  unique   link  to  your employee  record  in  the  payroll  system.

     e-­‐mail  will  have  Britehouse  details   and  functionality  listed  in  it
  8. © 2015 8 Activating  your  ESS  account 1. Username:  

    your  username   is   first  name.  surname   e.g..   themba.chakela 2. Create  a  strong password.   3. Complete   the                             required   information            and   click  on  the            “Activate   Account”          Button 4. Congratulations,                  you   have  activated              your  ESS   user                  account  and  can   now  login  to  use  Employee   Self  Service To  complete  the  activation  process,  click  on  the  link  contained  in  the  e-­‐mail.  This  will   direct  you  to  the  account  activation  screen: IMPORTANT User   name  is  NOT case   sensitive Password must   have: • Eight  (8)  alpha  numeric   characters • At  least: • Two  (2)  special   characters   e.g.   @  or   $   or  # • Note:  a  capital  letter   counts   as  a  special   character e.g..   D@rthtc1

     activated,  you  can  use  the  Login  links  on  the  welcome  page  to  login  to  the  ESS   Application   Britehouse  note:  The  look  and  feel  of  the  screens  will  be  different  to  our  portal   but  the  functionality  will  be  the  same.

    Password  and  click   on  OK  to   login  to  the  ESS  application. BRITEHOUSE TIP: Bookmark   this  screen   in  your  web  browser   for  future  reference.

     ESS,  you  will  be  directed  to  the  Employee  Summary  screen.   There  are  3  main  sections: 1. Navigator  bar 2. Menu 3. Content  area  (Summary)

Britehouse  Note:   You  have  the  option  of  either  using  the  items  in   the  menu  (on  the  left-­‐hand  side  of  the   webpage)   or those  in  the  Navigation  Bar  (above  the  content   area) The  options  available  to  you  will  depend  on  the   features  which  have  been  activated  for   you/your  division

      in  Progress displays   a  summary   of  all  your   requests   that  are  currently   in  progress   (i.e.  that   have   been  submitted   but  have  not   been   actioned   by  your   final  approver   yet).   Britehouse  note:  The  look  and  feel  of  the  screens  will  be  different  to  our  portal   but  the  functionality  will  be  the  same. Payslips   Displays   a  summary   of  all  your   payslips   (current   and  archived)   that  are  available  to   be  viewed. The  IRP5’s Section   displays   a  summary   of  all  your   IRP5’s   (current   and  archived)   that   are   available  to  be  viewed.
