Whether you are managing a major commercial development in Truro or breaking ground on a residential extension in St Ives, choosing the right machinery is critical to keeping your project on time and within budget. Cornwall’s unique geography—ranging from narrow rural access lanes to heavy clay terrains—demands a strategic approach to equipment selection. To help ensure your site operates safely and efficiently, we have compiled the essential factors to consider when arranging machinery for your next build.1. Evaluate Ground Conditions and Machine CapacityBefore booking any equipment, a comprehensive site assessment is required to determine the exact scale and weight requirements of your excavation work.Matching the right tonnage to the project ensures site safety and prevents costly project delays:Micro and Mini Diggers (1T–3T): Perfect for residential landscaping, tight access utility trenches, and projects with strict width restrictions.Mid-Range Excavators (5T–9T): Ideal for general groundworks, footings, and mid-sized civil engineering tasks.Heavy-Duty Machinery (13T–36T): Essential for major bulk excavations, commercial site clearances, and demanding demolition contracts.Partnering with an established specialist like Acland Plant Hire gives you access to a modern fleet of excavators ranging from 1T up to 36T, ensuring you get the exact machinery specification your site requires.
