  6. So what helps the brain work? • Moving – actively

    involved – getting blood to the brain • Multi sensory experiences – visual, aural and kinaesthetic • Multimodal learning – games, rhymes, songs, drama, instruments, movement, visual arts, dance etc • Social learning – working with partners and in small groups (online?) – problem solving and thinking critically
  7. Blues What is a blues? The blues is a type

    of slow, sad American Negro song, that became widely known around the beginning of the 20th century. ‘Blues’ means depressed and unhappy. What is a 12 bar blues? A popular musical form used in thousands of songs. It is usually a sequence of 12 bars that follows a particular chord pattern that is repeated several times.
  8. Teaching Process 1 Responses – body percussion and sing Say

    the words in the response - accompany with body percussion Clap rhythm on - ‘ISO’ Blues and tap rhythm on chest for ‘I got the’ Sing the words of the response throughout the song accompanied by the body percussion – (use the backing track) Play the responses on a xylophone, recorder, piano, ukulele or other instrument Chorus – movement and sing Do the movements and sing the responses with the body percussion Rewrite the words in the ‘Calls’ (plain text) Write the first line and repeat it then add a 3rd line – see if you can make it rhyme Drum/percussion part/sound makers Play the rhythm of the responses on a chair or bucket drum with sticks Add in a swing rhythm – firstly on body then on sound makers and later Garage Band

    to work it out. 12 Bar Blues form – what it looks like Easy Bass line – sing with solfa and hand signs then play Sing the bass line with solfa and hand signs then transfer to melodic percussion instruments, piano or bass instrument Chords Play the chords on the uke – G C7 and D7 Play the chord triads (G, C & D) in the RH with the responses on a keyboard or piano Add in the LH easy bass
