Cooking as a First Language: Cooking as a First Language is now an official nonprofit organization in Tupelo, MS. The purpose of it is to break down barriers and build up community over food and cooking. Every month, we offer an authentic and interactive cooking class taught by a community member from a given culture. Our main goal is to celebrate food traditions and cultures and form relationships that might not have formed any other way…even when those involved don’t speak the same language. Food is our first language. Where there is a cutting board, there’s community!
