Sea Port Group (known as the NSCP) has announced that its 2014 total consolidated cargo turn over amounted to 131 131.6 thousand tonnes. There was a decrease of 19 466.8 thousand tonnes which lead the group’s total overall cargo to decrease by 9850.4 thousand tonnes in 2014. CEO OF PJSC NCSP Sultan Batov comments, “Negative effect on our volumes in 2014 was produced by factors beyond our control.” In 2014, grain volumes increased by 82.9% year on year. Ferrous metal and pig iron grew by 11.6% (twice the industry growth rate) and increases were seen in coal, timber and containers. Batov goes on to add, “Our key accomplishment in 2014 was increasing transhipment of bulk and general cargo by 40% and 12% year-on-year respectively.
