  2. Japanese Textbook Linked Open Data (Textbook LOD) • A structured

dataset of bibliographic information of textbooks • The dataset was compiled from bibliographic data organized by a special library, the Library of Education at National Institute for Educational Policy Research, Japan. • 7,548 Japanese textbook volumes from 1992 to 2017 • 219,018 Resource Description Framework (RDF) triples as of April 2019 • Related resources of textbooks are also included: • Curriculum guidelines, subject area, and subject 2
  3. Textbook LOD’s URI (IRI) enables to uniquely identify a textbook

in Japan • Example of a URI (IRI): 3 https://w3id.org/jp-textbook//2006/ B/013 "World History B" textbook used in upper secondary school and authorized in 2006 Type of school, year of authorization, textbook symbol, and textbook number are described in the textbook. Textbook symbol and textbook number are maintained by the Ministry of Education. 2 B 013 A part of the textbook’s colophon 18320 2| | B 013 A part of the textbook cover textbook symbol: World B Year of authorization Textbook number Authorized on March 20, 2006 Type of school: Upper Secondary School

  5. Publishing/Hosting Textbook LOD • Publication Methods • Permanent URI service

operated by the World Wide Web Consortium Permanent Identifier Community Group • Github pages • Providing Contents 1. Downloadable files for the datasets as a format of RDF/Turtle 2. Useful information through its URIs 1. A human-friendly web page 2. A machine-readable format 3. Several useful links to lists of subject areas and subjects 4. Detailed documentation about the dataset including its metadata model and revision history 5 It’s free for use and easy to use. The actual website for Textbook LOD can be changed, so we use the service for Permanent URI.
  6. 1. Downloadable files for the datasets as a format of

  7. 2. Useful information through its URIs (1): A human-friendly web

page 7 https://w3id.org/jp-textbook//2011//921 You can obtain basic information through the corresponding URI of the textbook. There are related links to the bibliographic details page of the relevant textbook

If we found errors in the data in the making LOD process, we notified ones the library. Created by only with MS Excel, MS Word and a text editor* Curriculum guidelines, subject area, and subject etc. Github *Ref. “Poorman’s Linked Data Toolkit / Let's make Linked Data easily!” https://github.com/jp-textbook/jp-textbook.github.io/wiki/Toolkit.en
  11. Conclusion • We introduce a case study for publishing a

small bibliographic collection as LOD. • We provide the Japanese textbook resources as LOD. • Using Textbook LOD’s URI (IRI), it has became possible to point to Japanese textbooks uniquely. • We collaborate with the library for development and publication of the dataset. • The dataset is freely available under the CC0 (Creative Commons Zero) license. • Please visit the Textbook LOD Web site! 13 https://w3id.org/jp-textbook/
