The EDM Monitor 2013 is a report that analyses the online activities of dj's in the dancescene in 2013. The online performance appears to be connected to the success of individual artists. For example: there is a relation between the Facebook score and the position of an artist in the DJ Mag Top 100. The annual list that presents the number one dj of the world. Dj's born after 1987 are having more success on social media than their older colleagues.   3. THE PURPOSE OF THIS REPORT ! Reputation can be considered

    as a component of the identity as defined by others. The term is known to be an ubiquitous, spontaneous and highly efficient mechanism of social control in natural societies. It is a subject of study in social, management and technological sciences. Its influence ranges from competitive settings, like markets, to cooperative ones, like firms, organisations, institutions and communities. ! Furthermore, reputation acts on different levels of agency, individual and supra-individual. At the supra- individual level, it concerns groups, communities, collectives and abstract social entities (such as firms, corporations, organizations, countries, cultures and even civilizations). It affects phenomena of different scale, from everyday life to relationships between nations. Reputation is a fundamental instrument of social order, based upon distributed, spontaneous social control. ! At Rankingz we believe having an online reputation is one of the biggest trends in recent years. We offer the online community a Reputation Performance Analysis (RPA) platform which visualizes the day-to-day performance of a reputation of a DJ provided by data generated by the users and services of the internet. ! Rankingz is monitoring search engines, blogs, wiki’s, fora, social networks, communities and micro blogs. The data will be clearly and joyfully visualized. With this report it is possible to experience how a DJ is performing with his/her or its reputation in the total online domain. The results of the DJ’s in this report are shown in several graphs together with data and index scores.   4. KEY FINDINGS ! • The #1 DJ of the DJ

    Mag Top 100 in 2013 is ranked at 12 in the list. • Daft Punk climbed during the year due to the single and album release however they were not able to maintain their position throughout the whole year. It seems there’s a lack of community management. • Relative new artists are the quick risers in 2013. Skrillex, Nicky Romero, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Zedd, EDX, Tommyknocker and Avicii are the quick risers in particular. • Fatboy Slim shows the the biggest decrease of reputation in 2013 due to the switch of his Twitterhandle to another Twitterhandle. In the next few months his repuation is expected to rise. • The absolute growth on Facebook of DJ’s show some quick risers. • The relative growth on Facebook of DJ’s show some outperformers such as W&W, Nicky Romero, Nervo, Alesso, Hardwell. Establised artists like Armin van Buuren, David Guetta, Tiesto, Markus Schulz grew significant slower in 2013. • The average relative growth of the DJ’s measured on Facebook is about 60%. The average relative growth of the DJ’s measured on Twitter is about 77%. • The Klout Score of many DJ’s went up in 2013. • Still a lot of DJ’s show signs of questionable data (most of the time fake followers). Chuckie, Marco V, Ronski Speed, BT, Partyraiser, Boy George, Bobby Burns, Patrick Hagenaar, Glenn Morrison and Roger Shah show the most significant signs of outperformance. • Young artists under 27 are performing significant better on Facebook than older artists over 27. • There is a correlation between the Facebook performance of a DJ and the position of a DJ in the DJ Mag Top 100 in 2013. • Tiesto’s potential social value has reached a staggering value of over 100 Million Euro.     2013. ๏ Not all new entries of the DJ Mag Top 100 in 2013 are measured. This includes the following DJ’s: Andrew Rayel, Antoine, Bl3nd, Diego Miranda, Dillon Francis, Diplo, DJs From Mars, Gunz For Hire, Heatbeat, Martin Garrix, Mike Candys, Project 46, Quentin Mosimann, Ran-D, Solarstone, Stafford Brothers, Tenashar, Tiddey, Tommy Trash, Vicetone, Wasted Penguinz, Wildstylez. ๏ Rankingz Index or Rankingz Score measures the reputation of a DJ. Therefore, a number of performance indicators are measured for each DJ, such as: ! ˒ Influence of a DJ, expressed in the Klout Score among other things: ! ‣ Development of the fan base of a brand ‣ Development of the buzz around a brand, or the share of voice of a brand within the group of peers. ‣ Please note that the measured absolute figures are only used to determine the relative position in relation to peers. Weighting factors determine the contribution of the performance indicators to the final position of a brand in the list. ! ๏ The reputation score aims to provide more insight into aspects such as: ! • Presence or reach or awareness - how ‘big’ is the DJ online, based on measuring its fan base on various channels • Activity – how active is a DJ or how much activity is there concerning the DJ • Engagement – how many active fans are there and how often is the DJ mentioned in their messages ! ๏ Klout Score. What does it actually do? Klout serves as an indicator for a number of things, by indicating the extent to which a DJ is: capability of creating relevant content and establishing relationships on social media sites in a consistent manner, capability of developing a relevant target audience that cares enough to share the content of the DJ and considered ‘influential’, based on the content shared by others.
