We are in module five. And we can hear you. We are we already knocked out this whole side. We're over here on getting started. So we are in the second half of our class are rockin and rollin. And remember to turn off any distractions while you're working. And let's jump in. Okay, well, there we go. Patricia Sung 00:31 So step five, getting started, this is going to be the longest step, but you have prepared, you are ready, we're gonna do this, we're going to keep it simple. We're gonna chunk it into small pieces so that we are not climbing a mountain here. Well, I mean, we aren't climbing a mountain, but we're doing it little by little, so we don't get too overwhelmed. We're just complacent man. Patricia Sung 00:51 Okay, phase one, is we're setting up our calendar. Now, I'm going to separate these into paper, and, and digital. So if you're doing a paper calendar, do not buy anything. Use what you have, I want you to take five minutes or less, preferably less. And look at the planners that are sitting on your shelf collecting dust, if you need to, you can literally do this on a piece of paper on Excel spreadsheet, you can just like print on some squares like graph paper, like we are super, super, super keeping it simple. We're experimenting, we're gonna set up the calendar. And we're gonna try it. If it doesn't work, we'll tweak a little while just and then we'll figure out what works for you. Patricia Sung 01:30 And then once you figure out the system of like, how much space do you need, what do you
  2. need to write down, then you'll have the room in

there to be like, Okay, these are the things I need out of a planner, and you'll know what to look for and actually choosing like the best planner that you're going to like love carrying around. But until then we're not picking one, we need to figure out your system verse to stone verse, okay, so pick one anyone anyone will do, if we get a few days in, remember, because we're only doing, we're doing it in baby steps here, we get a little bit ways and you're like, oh, this really isn't working for me, then we'll adjust. Patricia Sung 02:10 Now setting up your digital calendar. Again, don't go buy anything, choose the free app on your phone, like use iCal or Google Calendar. In just a couple minutes, pick one, we can change our minds later, you're going to set up your reminder or notification defaults. You can google instructions on whatever program you pick on how to do it. But these are my general ones. And you can adjust as you see fit online events, I do a 10 Minute. If it's like literally like hopping on a zoom call, I do 30 minutes. And I do a three hour one for like in person events that I have to like, you know, drive get ready for I need to know like that's coming, right. Patricia Sung 02:55 So those are the three standards that I have on there. And I'll adjust as needed. But those are the three that pop up so that way I just have to like hit delete if I don't want one. But I don't have to go into like create ones it's faster. If you want to do a color coding system that's totally optional. Some people find it very helpful with ADHD to divide things by color. Some people find that really annoying. I like to do my colors by person. So I have a color and my husband has a color each of my kids have a color and then my work tasks are a separate color from my like personal ones. And I do red for anything that I have to like show up at like for me is red. Because that makes it stand out to me. And keeping it simple. Patricia Sung 03:43 So your activity for a part or a phase one here in module five is to choose your calendar, set a timer, do not take more than five minutes, just pick something and we can always change your mind later. It's not set in stone, I remember only doing a little piece at a time. So if it turns out to be horrible, it's totally fine. We're gonna change it later. Set your reminders if you have a digital calendar, make sure you know how to use it if you like i said i prefer you do whatever you been doing. Just stick with it because then you're not learning something new in this process. Patricia Sung 04:13 Don't explore all the fancy features the bells and whistles that come with digital calendar. Don't get out 400 Different colors depends. Pick one or two. We're gonna keep it simple. Okay, that is phase one of getting started on your calendar.
