Engagement and place-making with canal-side communities

This presentation will explain how Scottish Canals has been working with canal-side communities to create shared visions and plans for their areas. These local visions have been the key to unlocking funding for a range of interesting regeneration projects with the canals at the centre. The talk will have a particular focus on North Glasgow projects such as Speirs Locks Creative Quarter, the Claypits Local Nature Reserve and an emerging Urban Playground at Port Dundas

3. www.wcc16.com #WCCSCOTLAND What is a Charrette? • A ‘charrette’ is a way of working that brings people together to discuss a place and how it could work. • Charrettes are an intensive way of working, usually taking place over several days. • During this time, a design studio is set up in the area, and everyone with an interest comes together to create a shared vision.
